CERAMIC CHUTE LININGS
CERAMIC CHUTE LININGS
This refers to the installation of high-strength pieces, generally high-density alumina tiles or slabs, on the interior surfaces of hoppers, silos, and industrial chutes.
What It Consists Of and How It Works
- Composition: Uses technical alumina ceramic, typically 92% to 95% purity, sometimes combined with rubber or polyurethane layers to absorb strong impacts.
- Installation: The pieces are secured to the steel hopper using high-strength adhesives or welded bolts.
- Purpose: Protects the metal structure against extreme wear, abrasion, and impact caused by the continuous flow of bulk materials such as minerals, coal, cement, or aggregates.
Main Advantages
- Extended Durability: An unprotected steel hopper can wear out within months, while one with properly installed ceramic lining can last five years or more.
- Reduced Maintenance: Reduces unexpected plant shutdowns and frequent costs associated with welding or repairing steel plates.
- Efficient Flow: Provides a smooth surface that prevents materials from becoming easily stuck or adhering to the surface.
