TYPES OF SPLICES

1. Hot Vulcanization

  • Ideal Use: High-strength belts, heavy-duty applications such as mining and quarrying, and long-distance conveying.

2. Cold Vulcanization

  • What it is: It is a joining technique that uses special chemical adhesives or cements without applying external heat.
  • Advantages: It is a fast and easy process that can be performed directly at the worksite.
  • Ideal Use: Emergency field repairs or situations where large hot-vulcanizing equipment is not available.

3. Mechanical Splicing

  • What it is: It consists of joining the two ends of the belt using metal fasteners, staples, clips, or hinged plates.
  • Advantages: It allows the belt to be opened, cleaned, or shortened very easily and quickly.
  • Ideal Use: Light-duty conveyor belts, operations requiring frequent maintenance, or applications where quick installation is required.
